Wow, it’s been an extremely long time since I’ve updated this blog. While I originally envisioned this site to be a place where I would become a bonafide ~fashion~ blogger, it always seems like life gets into the way of being able to take pictures of myself and then sit down and record my thoughts on this site.
And a lot of things have happened since I last wrote on here. I transitioned from college life to the real world, I transitioned to one age to the next, I transitioned from one job I thought I wanted to do to another, the country transitioned from one president to another, etc, etc.
I always remark how quickly the days go by and how months can lap into a year and to multiple years. When you’re in the thick of things, it’s easy to forget that transitions aren’t always monumental, jarring shifts but sometimes just short adjustments that make a big difference over time.
Besides personal adjustments, even the world of communication and social sharing has changed. In 2017, blogging has become almost antiquated. The changing currents keep ebbing and flowing, and it seems that the Internet/the social media world has also transitioned from preferring one form of medium to another. With such an emphasis on in-app content and the preference for visual images, we’ve found nouveau ways to document life beyond the written words of a blog post. Short-form content in an app is king, and videos, vlogs, and Snapchat/Instagram stories seem to be killing the blogging star.
But it’s ok if I’m not a little blogging star. I’ve never been one to eschew something just because it’s not in vogue. In fact, I relish the opportunity to practice multiple types of writing of different lengths (and document what I’ve written for other publications) on this blog. Even though the currents keep on moving, documenting these short adjustments of letters and transitions of words into sentences can make a big difference over time.
