Gazing and lustfully browsing through travel articles on the web, my restless and ever-present wish to explore the facets of the world grows by the minute. As lovely as seeing photographs of these places is, the Internet offers only a fragment of the rich, lively, and fulfilling experiences that the world has to offer.
I guess I just adore the feeling of being in a new place and experiencing new moments and things.
As I have never ever been out of my native US before, I have always desired the chance to explore different places and see the world in a new point of view. My wish to understand and experience new cultures and people probably explains my captivation with travel shows and the Instagrams of my favorite bloggers who jet-set around the world every week.
Each image that I view adds another destination to the list.
Paris, New York, Cinque Terre, Santorini, Milan, and Tahiti are currently the top six places that I hope to explore someday. But even that Swing at the End of the World is on that list.
Some people wonder why I am so captivated with traveling. I eye passing airplanes covetously- knowing that I should be on that plane. I look through old photos from my short travels with nostalgia- wanting to experience that place again.
Maybe it’s just my overt and exaggerated romanticism of a place, these ideas churning out grandiose ideas and whims of new adventures in foreign lands. Or perhaps it is just my mind, lured by the unexplored and desperate for the sense of awe and wonder when discovering.
Ah, the charm and seductive allure of escaping and exploring.
Because the ones who usually ask are the ones who aren’t charmed. These folks have no desire to go to these places or they have been discouraging of traveling entirely. While a lot of the places on my travel list that may be “cliché” or even “overrated” for them; to me, there is always beauty in exploring a destination that you’ve always wanted to visit.
And so, I still long for the day that I will be able to voyage.
No matter how cliché, there is value in breathing in different air, tasting new foods, hearing the babbles of different tongues, and experiencing brand new sights and cultures.
There is always room on the list to see how others live and change the way how you view the world.
